This world is filled with history that is present today. History that feels alive, like it just happened. It has a sense of familiarity that we take for granted. Like a certain team we will not talk about and how they look damn good in pinstripes and clean-shaven faces. There is a healthy bond between tradition and success. Take Tuscaloosa for example, a small college town that was built up by the greatest coach of all time in the 60s and 70s and then tried to maintain its path for 40 years until Nick Saban came by and restores the Crimson Tide to what they were all along, royalty. Now even between Bear and Saban there were glimpses of greatness and a few dark days in the early 2000s. But when things got bad, the university got serious. Which is more than I can say for Boston right now.
Michealangelo, Donatello, Rafeal and Leonardo were key figures during the renaissance era, creating works of art that varied from exceptional, to downright impossible to replicate. Even with modern technology, these guys were gods amongst men and in a sense became immortal because of their work. Everyone knows the statue of David, even if they have never seen it in person, they understand just how impressive it is. Brady, Pierce, Ortiz and Bergeron are Boston’s immortals. Obviously, there are others, but these were they guys to get us out of the dark days. These are our Nick Saban. They could do nothing wrong. They were there for 20 years; they embodied the city and became the commonwealths only source of joy and relief. When the New England winters would batter our homes and keep us inside, Brady was still there in January and February. When the big bad bruins and they looked more like little cubs and the 86 Celtics were all old and grey, Bergeron and Pierce reminded the world who we once were. When a terrorist decided to attack the city on Marathon Monday injuring hundreds and killing three including a 9-year-old boy, David Ortiz proudly announced this was his F****** City. And he was right, they all were.
Now, I do not know what to say now. It seems like we have lost our way again. Only this time is our tradition being messed with by greedy owners and incompetent coaching. That is why I am officially calling for the Boston Red Sox to sell the team TO ANYONE. The Celtics to FIRE JOE MAZZULLA and the Bruins to either spend some money or relocate the team to Hampton Beach NH. Because if we are going to act like the minor leagues, we may as well become the minor leagues. As for the patriots, I am unsure yet. I thought the draft went well and our defense looks good. But Drake is not Tom. HE NEEDS HELP. You can’t expect this kid to do what Tom did with the same amount of talent do you? I mean for pete sake, one year we gave Tom a decent receiver and he threw 50 TDS and broke a billion records. I am not saying we should sign another Randy Moss but cmon, they have me catching balls out there…pause.
Here Is where I get serious, so buckle up. I love that we fired Cora and are sticking with our young guns, but can anyone tell me why Yoshida and Story are on the team? I mean holy Heck one has not played in 3 years and the other is batting sub .200. I COULD DO THOSE THINGS FOR FREE, instead we are paying these CLOWNS a combined $43 MILLION dollars this year. For $43 million dollars I will get in the box and take a fastball to the face from prime Randy Johnson on a daily basis. But instead of someone who wants to win, we just employ a group of frauds.
The Celtics are one of the greatest teams in the NBA and that is not up for debate. But they rely on 3 pointers and Tatum playing for Kobes’s approval rather than Defense and running the Triangle. I am not basketball coach but there is a reason Phil Jackson has like 15 rings. He made the game simple, balanced egos and had A GAME PLAN. Right now, no phone in hand, I cannot tell you 3/5 starters from game 7. And I watched the whole thing. So no, do not trade Jaylen Brown. Do not sit up on your horse and blame Tatum for tearing his Achillies. When things go well you focus on the team. When things go bad you must address the one leading them into battle. Sure, Joe is a good coach and a champion but in the last two years he has let them collapse to inferior teams. It makes perfect sense, hes a good coach not a great one. So, thank you Joe but it’s time to GO.
Honest to God, the Patriots will be fine until Bobs idiot son takes over then we will be in the same boat. And the Bruins are the second worst run team behind the Red Sox. In a perfect world the Jacobs family and Henry family all sell their teams for billions of dollars and just go away, leaving a little hope that we can get back to winning like we are supposed to. Until then I have no faith.
